Majambo

Description

Diversifying farmer incomes with cacao’s close cousin.

Savory Nuttiness with Fulfilling Fat Flavour

About the farm

At the Northeastern edge of the Amazon basin, you’ll find a disparate collection of Majambo trees mixed among their cacao cousins. Lacking the convenience of conventional farms, the women from the nearby village of Chazuta instead venture into the jungle to source these wild beans.

About the Partnership

We’re helping farmers identify this cacao cousin in the wild and bring it to market, boosting and diversifying their income with a premium product. Supporting this crop diversification also de-emphasizes coca production in the area, aiding the fight against Peru’s dangerous drug economy.
